Gitche the Pelican is a beloved female American white pelican who stayed in Ashland, Wisconsin, for the winter of 2025, becoming a local celebrity and symbol of hope before being rescued and rehabilitated by the Raptor Education Group, Inc. (REGI), suffering from gunshot wounds and lead poisoning, with the community rallying to support her recovery and name her after a word for "Great Lake" (Gichi/Gitche) from the Ojibwe language.
As of late December 2025, Gitche was recovering well, but it remained uncertain if she would be released back into the wild in the spring, as she was still young and recovering from trauma.
10% of print sales will be donated to the Raptor Education Group.
